Ditch the Programming

Don’t be afraid to be different. Be set apart. You do not have to do what the programming of society tells you.

Programming tells you that you have to take your child to the pediatrician and pump them full of vaccines within hours, if not minutes of birth. You do not have to do that.

Programming tells you have to send your kids to public schools. You do not have to do that.

Programming tells you that you have to take your kids to Disney World and have them watching tv/movies all the time.

There is harmful ideology that is hidden in cartoons/movies and so many negative effects of screen time. On the other hand, there are countless benefits of free play and creative thinking when kids aren’t parked in front of a screen.

Programming tells you to get your kids an iPad and a phone/video games. Check out this study about the negative effects of screen time on children.

Programming tells you it’s okay for your preteen to have social media. But you absolutely do not have to have them on it.

Programming tells you to constantly scroll your phone/social media/news sources. However, there are clearly negative effects of too much information, it’s on overload. Our brains are taking in more than they can handle when we’re online and tuned into news constantly and it’s information that we can’t necessarily change in our day to day lives. This is just stressful, and we need to minimize it.

Programming tells you that your favorite news channels are telling you the truth. But in actuality, there is no shortage of propaganda and misinformation from major news outlets.

Programming tells you to just accept sinful ideological ideas around you and that’s “love.” But love is actually supporting and encouraging one another in the truth. Telling the truth is true love. not supporting lies.

Programming tells you that you’re weak and you can’t change because you’ve failed many times before. The truth is, with God all things are possible.

Programming tells you that kids need to be sent off to “college” to be educated and earn their livings at a 9-5 job, 5 days a week. Truly, there are many options to make money your own way or in a field that isn’t covered in typical colleges.

It is important to set yourself up for success with an environment where the temptations are removed as much as possible. Self control is easiest when you don’t have to exercise it because wrong option is so far removed from you that it would be too difficult to do, so you choose the right one.

If you’re dieting, don’t even buy the junk foods anymore. If you’re quitting tv, cancel your subscription and remove the tv from the room/house. If quitting secular music that you feel convicted about, cancel your subscription, etc. Follow your convictions that the Holy Spirit will stir you up about to draw closer to God. Pray about it and pay attention when you start to notice the things that are not of God in your “programming.”

You can unplug from the programming by simply not listening to it. Drown out the voices that are not supporting God. Only listen to His voice and the ones who are in alignment with Him. Be set apart. Either it’s for God or it’s not. If it’s not- ditch the programming!

Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
