Birthday Parties for Kids
When you’re a mom, especially if you have a few kids or more, birthday parties are something you find yourself planning often.
Birthday parties come in all shapes and sizes. For my family, since my kids were born, we’ve chosen a theme each birthday and planned the party decorations around that.
The parties are almost always at home. We usually get paper plates that match the theme, a large number balloon for the age they are turning, and a few other things to solidify the theme.
We have a birthday cake too and some yummy food, and of course, presents! Sometimes, we do a piñata. We also like balloons and a “Happy Birthday” banner.
I thought this would be a good spot for me to leave some links items that either we’ve used or things that I’ve found that could be used for various birthday themes. These can help plan birthday parties for kids.
Planning birthday parties for kids is one of the most fun parts of parenting. It’s so rewarding to see how excited your kids are when they see their birthday decorations, cake, and balloons!

Birthday Cake Ideas
Cat birthday cake:
made using a plane white cake made by Publix and I requested the flowers in the middle and the collar at the bottom. I bought the topper and the kit with the ears and face myself and added them on carefully. I got them from Amazon.
Bear birthday cake:
Bear birthday cake: we picked up this cool cake from Publix with the blue dripping off of it, my son, who was turning 4, picked it himself. Then we added the bear to the top. This one was a little heavy, so I supported it from behind with a toothpick.

Bear themed cake topper
- Safari Miniature Bear toy to sit on top of the cake or use as decoration. I used this on top of a cake, but did have to prop it with toothpicks
Bear themed plates/decor
One easy way to decorate and establish the theme is with these bear balloons, one of which you see above. In this picture, it is next to a 4 balloon that I picked up at Publix.
