Bible Time in Your Special Place
Spending time in the Word is so important as a child of God. God’s Word is our source for strength, encouragement, and truth. It’s time for more Bible Time in your special place!
Pick a Special Place
This is such a personal thing, your one on one time with God, in His Word, in prayer, and praising Him. Your special place isn’t the only place you’ll do these things, but it’s a place you can go where you feel comfortable to be completely humble and your truest self before God. You can cry in this place, and throw your hands up in praise, and kneel in humility and prayer. You can plan for the future and you can reflect on how God has come through for you in the past. Having this special place will allow you to get comfortable coming here each day and automatically know where to run to when you need some time with the Lord.
Pick your Bible
Pick a Bible that you will keep in your special place. It can be one you’ve had for years or a new one that you’ve bought just for this place. You can use your phone, but I highly recommend a physical Bible that you can see, touch, and hug. I got a new one a few years ago that is leather and has journaling lines in the side. I had always felt a little weird about writing in my Bible, but as I read it, I allowed myself to underline things and rewrite words or verses to the sides (in the margins) as I felt led to. This has helped me so much to revisit things I’ve marked in the past.
Praise, Prayer, and The Word
Try to incorporate all three of these into your Bible time in your special place. For the prayer part, my pastor teaches an acronym: PRAY: Praise Repent Ask Yield. I find this helpful if you need some direction. You don’t always have to go in any certain order though. Just make sure you are sincere in your time with God. Show up consistently, but be REAL with Him. Don’t just be there out of obligation. Sometimes you may be there for a short time, and sometimes for a long time. It’s okay if it varies.
Pour your heart out
Pour your heart out to the Lord with sincerity. Truly tell him how you’re feeling, what you’re struggling with, repent and turn away from sin. Pray for God to help you in areas where you struggle. Praise Him for who He is and what He’s done. Seek His will above all else.
Be Spirit Led
Pray for the Lord to guide you with His Holy Spirit and trust Him to do it. He will.

You don’t have to know all the answers. You don’t have to have some fancy plan for what you’re going to read or study. Just show up and start praising, praying, and reading your Bible.
Have a clipboard, paper, and a pen

Have paper handy so that as God reveals things to you through the Word and the Holy Spirit, you can write things down. You can write down verses that you’re reading that stand out to you. Ask the Lord to bring things to your attention and guide you to verses that apply to you and what He wants you to do. He’s happy to guide you and when you’re sincerely seeking Him, He will show up. You will be amazed!
Show up consistently and authentically
God loves you! As you prioritize your time with God, you’ll see the evidence in your life. Dig in to the Word and make sure you always make time for it. Show up to your own Bible time in your special place and spend time with Him!
