Live by Faith, Not by Sight

“By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.”

Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭3‬ ‭ESV‬‬

The Universe was created by the word of God

It is absolutely fascinating to see how scientists are spending their entire lives and countless hours of study and analysis to attempt understand how it all began, yet in this verse, Hebrews 11:3, we are told that, “what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.”

Searching for answers

They’ll never “see” the missing ingredient in data from a distant planet or in the tiniest moving part under a microscope, because the only ingredient that matters is the one many of them overlook, the word of God. Without the word of God, nothing matters and nothing exists.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

John‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭ESV‬‬

How it all began

We know then how it began- with the word of God. Tucker Carlson recently interviewed a very accomplished scientist who speaks about how in his work, he is amazed by how God has designed things all around us. The more we know, the more we recognize how much we don’t know. This interview is fascinating and worth a watch.

Recognizing that we won’t “see” the answers

Many scientists, unlike the one in the video linked above, think too highly of their own ability to understand. They always think if they can just see a little clearer, get a bit more evidence, or gather more data, then they will know the key. The irony is, many of them overlook the very necessary key ingredient to it all, the word of God.

“Claiming to be wise, they became fools,”

Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭22‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Since “what is seen is not made out of things that are visible,” Hebrews 11:3 tells us, we can recognize that trying to look for the answers in the visible won’t work. We have to recognize that we can’t see it, but instead we must believe it. This requires both humility and faith.

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

It’s simple, God makes it all and we can’t, no matter how much we try or study

By faith, we understand that God created it all through His word. Wow! It’s so complex, yet so very simple. We don’t need to search the universe for answers, because His word has been the answer all along. ❤️ Praise God!

“For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.

Romans‬ ‭11‬:‭36‬ ‭ESV‬‬

So live by faith, not by sight

So now that we see, that we can’t see…. Live by faith! Quit trying to see it all and figure it all out. You can’t, because it isn’t visible! It’s all Him- His word began it all and continues to be the source for creation. He creates it. God doesn’t need visible stuff to make it. He speaks. We live by faith in Him and His word. Hallelujah! How liberating! So relax and trust God! Live by faith, and not by sight.
