Gardening as a Homemaker
Gardening as a homemaker is a wonderful way to contribute to the home economy. If you can learn how to grow the main vegetables that your family likes to eat, it will make a big difference for your family.
Know where your food comes from
It’s also so wonderful to know for sure how your food was cared for. You can really know what chemicals were used in its care and which types of seeds were used.

Teach about plants
Gardening is also a wonderful way to teach your children about taking care of plants. You can teach where food comes from, plant life cycles, and so much more!
Have fun and jump in
Even if you aren’t the most knowledgeable or best at gardening, you can plant some seeds. Give it a shot! It’s really fun to see what you can do.

You can start for free
One free way to do this is to just take a few seeds from whatever you’re eating. Then, you can place them on a wet paper towel in a ziploc bag. Next, put it in your windowsill and see if it sprouts. I’ve done this before and it works for some seeds and not for others.

Check out your hardiness zone to know which plants will grow best in your area. This helps a lot. You want to be working with the environment and weather around you, not against it.

I’m not the most experienced in this area, but I have been experimenting with different plants for years. I plan to use this space to link resources as I find them. I hope you have fun gardening as an homemaker and get your kiddos involved too!
