Women Working at Home
Women should be working at home, in their roles as mothers, wives, and nurturers. We have so much work to do in the home, and it’s so fulfilling. Seek out the purpose that God gas for you right in your very own home.
Before working at home:
- emptiness
- lack of purpose
- loneliness
- longing for more
After working at home:
- fulfillment
- driven, filled with purpose, aligned with God’s will
- grateful
- arms full, loved
Trust God, pray, seek Him first, and He will provide for you
❤️ Love your husband and children (pray for them in advance if you don’t have them yet)
- Prepare yourself in advance if you’re not yet a wife and mother
- Learn things that will help you be a good wife and mother
Be self-controlled
- Do not be of this world
- Do not conform to those around you
“but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,”
1 Peter 1:15 ESV
Be PURE
- Do not defile yourself- mind, body, spirit
- Save yourself for marriage
- At all times, refuse to allow any filth in your life – in what you take in or what you put out
Into your mind: music, tv, conversation, books
Out of you: actions, words, thoughts, goals, motivations, habits
Working at Home
- Literally at home- do not be about your career- aim to be a homemaker, not only is it what God is telling you to do, it’s for a reason
Being a godly homemaker
- Prepare healthy food (grown or purchased)
- Clothe family (sewn or purchased)
- Aim to learn skills that make your family healthier and that make your dollars go farther
The HOME
- Make it beautiful, clean, welcoming, comforting, LOVING, hospitable, and a place where your family wants to be- Be there yourself!
- Stop outsourcing your job as a mother and wife – clean, cook, teach, love
- Keep your kids at home! God made you to teach them, train them, and love them. Do it with everything you have and know that He did not make a mistake when He gave them to you and He will meet you where you are when you submit it ALL to HIM and do your best to be obedient to his call to godly motherhood.
Be Kind
Words
- Do not say it unless it is edifying
- Let your words build others up and never tear them down
- Do correct your children, but gently and with respect
Actions
- Consider the needs of others, even above your own
“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”
Philippians 2:3 ESV
“so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God. For the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry.”
1 Peter 4:2-3 ESV
- Serve others
- Show love
Be submissive to your husband
- It’s good for you, not just them
- Show him respect
- If he’s not who you want him to be for you to submit – still have “respectful and pure conduct”
“Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, when they see your respectful and pure conduct.”
1 Peter 3:1-2 ESV
Be a model of good works
- Submissive to authority
- Obedient
- Ready for every good work
- Speak evil of noone
- Avoid quarreling
- Be gentle
- Show perfect courtesy toward all people
Do not neglect the work that is in your home. Do not think someone else can do it for you. It’s yours to do. Enjoy it!
