Do not be idle

Do not be idle. We can easily end up idle in today’s world. Everything is at our fingertips.

Life is so convenient today

There are so many things that we can do on our phones. You can pretty much do everything you need without ever having to get up. You can lay around or sit around and have everything come to you.

When you want to learn something, you can search for it online or ask AI. If it’s a gift you’re needing, just go shopping with your thumbs. Hungry? Your delivery order can be here soon with hot food or groceries.

Want to see family? With FaceTime you can just give them a call and see their faces as you catch up. Got work to do? Simply pull up emails, work online, design something with an app, edit a video, and so much more right there on your phone.

With everything being so convenient, it’s very easy to just let it be and not get moving. We still need to move our bodies, see people in person, and get things done around our homes. Even though it’s tempting, do not be idle.

Avoid being aimless, have a task

With so much ease and everything coming to us without much effort at all, it is very easy to fall into idleness. We seemingly have nothing else to do so we sit around and scroll, we randomly read articles about things that don’t even matter for our life today or we watch or listen to random things.

There’s nothing wrong with doing these things sometimes, but when we find ourselves consumed with nothingness and with no clear goals, it can lead to “idleness.”

idleness: laziness, being inactive, avoiding work

Get up

It’s pretty easy to be lazy and convince yourself that you’re being productive. You can buy stuff online and call it solving problems. You can order food and say you fed everyone. You can drive around, sitting on your bottom in the car and say you went somewhere. But did you actively make a difference for your family?

Use your skills to serve your family

Did you use your skills to help your husband, your kids, and yourself have a better day? A cleaner home? To learn something?

“She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.”

I didn’t cut it out- but here’s my sign right in my pillow to remind me not to get back in bed! 🤣

Let’s defeat idleness and get up and get going. Spend time with your kids and husband, get things done, and feel good about your day! Work at home and serve your family with a smile. You’ve got this! Do all things for the glory of God.
