Homeschool Planner

In all my years of homeschooling, what I’ve found works best is to actually record what we do on the homeschool planner rather than make detailed plans. I usually buy a very basic lesson plan book, but I record what we do rather than a plan.

I prefer to record, rather than plan

My basic plans for what to do are usually to follow a certain book or curriculum that I’ve chosen or to create it as we go.

This gives the ultimate freedom to adapt the year as we go to meet the needs of my children. You can cater the lessons to your children’s interests, your family trips, and standards or learning goals that you’ve decided to prioritize for the year. These can change as you see how things are going and flexibility is important.

There is value in recording what you’ve done because you can then flip back and see what you’ve covered or what gaps you may have that need to be filled if any. You can also record notes of what to work on.

I’ve created a basic weekly plan that you can use to record each week. For a 180 day school year, you would need 36 weeks, so you could just print this 36 times and have your own planner ready to go. You could just print it each week or have it in a notebook ready to go. I like to number the weeks and that helps me track how far we are to the goal of 36 weeks. Click below to download your free homeschool planner! Enjoy!

An Option With More Calendars

If this feels way too simple for you and you want something with more calendars for reference, labels, and something beautiful. I recommend this planner, the “A Simple Plan” Homeschool Planner. I have used it before and loved it too! It has tabs and is spiral bound and has other planning tools like monthly planning pages etc, that you may find that helpful.
