You Can Homeschool and Here’s Why You Should
You can homeschool.
Yes, YOU can! You may have felt that you are unqualified or that you don’t know how. When you first become a parent- did you already know how? Did you really understand all that it would entail?
You do not have to already be an expert on everything to get started. Just get started! God gave you your children and you are their mother. You can do it! You can find so many resources to help you. Just do it!
Do not outsource your child’s education
When you send your child to public school, you’re allowing them to indoctrinate your child with whatever those in control wish to put into the minds of children.
Even when teachers mean well and seem nice, etc., they are still doing a job. They are doing what the state/county/city is telling them to do.
They are also typically teaching large classes and having to manage behavior issues, things like bathroom breaks, lunch breaks, going to and from different places in the school, etc. So much time at school is wasted with all of the lining up, waiting for behavior problems to be dealt with, passing out papers, taking them up, and so on.
One on one instruction is rare and for small amounts of time and pales in comparison to the direct and consistent one on one instruction by loving parent that is provided in homeschool.
You only get so much time, why give it away?
You have such limited time with your children before they’re grown. I know it’s cliche, but time flies! It really goes by so fast. Don’t you want to be there with your children every step of the way?
You can be the one who teaches your child to read, to add, to multiply. You can be the one who helps them learn about history and science and all that you want them to learn about. You can choose the topics and the world view.
Biblical Worldview
You can be sure that they are taught from a biblical perspective and that the curriculum that they are learning from or that you create as you go, is aligned with the Word of God.
These early years are so important for shaping how your child thinks about the world. You do not want the government, teachers, curriculum, or anyone else pushing any sort of agenda into the mind of your child.
Your child needs to learn that God made all things and His hand is in all things. That is not what is being taught in school. The secular worldview is the angle at which everything is taught. Someone else is choosing what to teach your kids when and how when you send them to any school. You should be the one deciding what your kids are taught. Do not forfeit that parental right.
Influences
There are many other influences in any school. All of the other kids are parented all different kinds of ways. The time your child spends with classmates in the classroom and on the playground opens them up to all kinds of conversations, potential bullying, etc.
You may be thinking of the positive parts of that like friendship and positive influences, but those things can be achieved in other ways. You can make friends at church, at parks, at other settings that allow you as the parent to be aware of the types of influences that you allow around your child.
Flexibility
If you or your spouse have a job with non-typical hours, you can teach your homeschooled child at times that work with that. You can also be free to take a trip on a whim and spend more time with family because you aren’t tied to a schedule made up by the government. You don’t have to get up super early and hand your kids off to someone else. You get to spend so much time with them doing fun things together and learning all over the place, not just in a classroom at a desk.
Trust God to guide you
Submit your schooling plans to the Lord. Pray about the decision that He wants you to make. If there are obstacles to you being able to homeschool, pray that He makes a way! He is the way maker!
