This easy 3 ingredient guacamole only takes a few minutes to prepare and is so delicious and good for you! If you love fresh guacamole, but thought it might be hard to make, you are in for a treat! This easy guacamole recipe will be the perfect addition to your warm tortilla chips. It is my go-to recipe. With simple ingredients, you can’t go wrong!

You will need:

  • a perfectly ripe avocado (dark)
  • a lime
  • salt (to taste)
The only ingredients you need to make this easy recipe
are shown here: a ripe avocado, a lime, and salt.

Tools you will use:

  • cutting board
  • knife
  • bowl
  • spoon
Fresh ingredients and tools shown that will be needed to make the guacamole

Steps to make guacamole:

1. Slice the avocado in half by cutting around the edges in the shape of a circle. You cannot slice through because of the large, hard seed/pit in the middle.

2. Remove the avocado pit, by scooping it out with a spoon.

3. Using the spoon, go around the edges of the avocado and scoop out the green insides. Put them in your bowl.

4. Slice the lime into fourths and carefully poke into the fleshy part with your knife to make it easier to squeeze out the juice.

5. Squeeze the fresh lime juice into the bowl. I use the entire lime, this results in a lime flavored guacamole, which I love. You can use less and then add more to taste, if you prefer.

6. Using the edge of your spoon, cut up the avocado flesh into chunks. Using the base of your spoon, smash the avocado. Mix the juice and avocado. You can also use a fork or a potato masher for this step if you like. You just want to smash up the avocado.

7. Add salt to taste and mix it in. I shake it on and taste test it to decide the amount.

8. Enjoy!

For extra flavor, you can add:

  • tomato
  • diced red onion
  • fresh garlic
  • fresh cilantro
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • white onions
  • jalapenos

You can eat this easy 3 ingredient guacamole with:

  • tortilla chips
  • burrito bowls
  • tacos
  • quesadillas
  • pico de gallo
  • much more!

To store leftovers:

Using an airtight container, place your leftover guacamole in the container. Squeeze more lime juice or lemon juice over the surface. Next, press plastic wrap against the guacamole and carefully squish out air bubbles and then place the lid on. This will help prevent the guacamole from turning brown. Keep it in the refrigerator. I recommend eating within 2-3 days.

For me, having authentic guacamole made fresh is the best way to bring fresh flavor to a mexican food dish. I love it for taco nights, quick snacks, and toppings for other recipes. It is an added bonus that I am getting lots of healthy fats from the ripe hass avocado. The is the best guacamole recipe for me, because it is so simple and easy to keep the ingredients on hand, but you can definitely play around with the flavors by experimenting with some of the optional ingredients that I listed above. Next time you are at the grocery store, be sure to pick up the ingredients for this simple homemade guacamole recipe!
