Speak the Truth
Speak the truth, no matter who likes it.
“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.“
Matthew 5:13 ESV
When we align ourselves with the Word of God, and we make sure our thoughts, opinions, and ideas are shaped by His truth, we may find ourselves a bit unpopular. That is okay! It is more than okay, it is a sign that we are standing up for what is right.
”Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.“
Colossians 4:6 ESV
This world may not want to hear the truth. They may not enjoy hearing the truth. But whether they like it or not, they need to hear the truth.
We have to be careful not to hold back for fear of upsetting others. The Bible is the absolute truth. When people are not in alignment with it, and you are speaking that truth, it can be hard for them to hear.
Speak it anyway.
Do not be intimidated by peoples’ opinions. We are here to please God, not everybody around us by telling them what they want to hear. But also, we must not have a haughty attitude. We have to correct others with gentleness and love.
We just have to keep in mind that when you truly love people, you tell them the truth. You tell them the truth that will set them free. You don’t condone the things that you know are harming them.
”So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.“
2 Timothy 2:22-26 ESV
We are the salt of the earth. Let’s make sure we keep our speech salty, full of truth.
Speak the truth. Keep yourself aligned with God’s unchanging Word and make sure that you are unashamedly sharing it with others. People need Jesus. Let’s let them see Him working through us.
